ATOTO Car Stereo, Car Audio, GPS Navigation, Wireless Carplay Adapter

The ATOTO S8 Gen 4 isn't a step down. While there are some areas ATOTO skimped on to keep the price in a sweet spot, it's definitely not a slouch by any means. I've had no issues running around 10 apps in the background—it stays snappy, and you can't even tell background tasks are running, even with my live OBD layout going and custom themes applied to the gauges. Now, with that said, I did run into one major quirk out of the box: trying to connect my BFAX OBD2 scanner. It would connect once, and then refuse to reconnect unless I unpaired and repaired it—and even then, it was a total coin toss. Having dealt with this exact same headache on my old XY Auto unit before, I knew the workaround: Android can be finicky with newer stacks, so dropping back to an older Bluetooth codec version clears it right up. Here is a quick "how-to" fix it: Go into the main Settings app (not the quick drop-down menu). Scroll to the bottom and select ABOUT. Scroll to the bottom again, Build Number and tap it 7 times. It will prompt you for a security passcode. (Note: Mine was 2026107 i.e. 2026 sept 7th. If you do this in 2028 in March on the 10th, your code will be 20280310, though it might be 2028310 depending on whether it requires a leading zero for the month!). -as I had tried (many) codes prior I can't be sure if mine required the 07 or not. Once unlocked, you are in Developer Options (do not touch settings you aren't familiar with!). Scroll down to the Bluetooth options and find AVRCP version, then change it from 1.5 down to 1.3. (Optional bonuses while you're in here: enable "show taps" so you know where you're touching, and turn window animation scales completely OFF). Unpair your trouble device, pair it fresh, and your disconnect loop should be sorted out. Do NOT go touching stuff that you have no idea what it does. If for some reason you need fastboot in the future (which you may when Google locks Android down) OEM unlocking might be a good thing to remember. Though if you needed this guide (you probably shouldn't mess with it?). Hardware & Audio Thoughts: The build quality is a massive step up over my old unit. The UI is clean, intuitive if you're used to Android, and gets plenty bright on stock settings. However, I do NOT like the fact it's missing face controls (no actual volume rocker etc. built into it). While it does have an option to have a "slide out" nav/volume bar you can't make it stay there, it auto hides though I am making a request to add this option, as having to pull DOWN on Android to get volume, and home buttons is a horrible choice in my opinion. It fit snugly inside my BMW E46 dash (which has virtually zero space), so it should fit almost anywhere, but definitely double-check your measurements first. If you do use this, it may be wise to have a dash mount kit as I would have needed one myself if it had not been for my old XY Auto unit (specifically for the BMW E46) as I modified its face plate to fit the ATOTO S8 Gen 4, that way it looked factory! It doesn't feel cheap, the response time is great, and the built-in fan keeps it cool (you can adjust fan behavior in the settings if needed). Factory settings code is 3368 (though it can vary by region/build). Most importantly for car audio guys: the built-in DSP is actually really good. You can fine-tune low-pass and high-pass filtering directly to keep muddy sub-bass out of the door speakers and tweeters, making the highs and mids sound great once dialed in. Not many Android units give you that level of granular control. Considering my box tuning, my low pass via sub is set to 20hz up to 58hz which slams down low. Pre-Out Voltage & Clipping Note: I suspect the head unit may be sending a clipped signal at higher volumes, which is why I'm planning to measure the RCA AC voltage with a multimeter. For audiophiles or anyone running high-output amps, a dirty or low RCA voltage isn't ideal because it forces you to push amp gains higher than they should be. If the pre-outs start clipping early under testing, adding a line driver like the Timpano TPT-EQ7 (to feed a clean 10V signal straight to the amp) will be mandatory. I will update this review with RCA voltage info and where it clips once I've tested it. I mention this due to the sheer fact that android head units are notorious for "under delivering" on RCA voltage. If atoto's claims are true, then i must upgrade my sub (doing that anyways to be honest) Overall, highly recommended if you're looking for a feature-packed head unit and don't mind tweaking a few settings under the hood! Left photo is my old xy auto unit F929b (cheap, fake ram/storage numbers, avoid), right photo is the Atoto S8 Gen 4 attached both to get an "example" of what it looked like prior, and after with the face plate. P.S. android auto works so well i cant stop it from connecting most the time, why did android auto have its "never" option removed lol!?!?

Very nice stereo. Easy installation.

Perfect for my ford transit work truck

This has been the best head unit I’ve owned so far. It goes above and beyond any other unit I’ve tried, with excellent features, great performance, and a smooth user experience. Everything works as expected, and it’s clear a lot of thought went into the design. I’m extremely happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a top-quality head unit.

Lo acquistato e praticamente nuovo privo di graffi e perfettamente funzionante shermo molto fluido montaggio semplice grazzie ai vari adattatori staffe/connettori ve lo consiglio un bel risparmio per un ottimo prodotto

help me write. okay i have owned this ATOTO products before so I am familiar with this brand. This latest ATOTO item is really awesome. i wanted a car ad on that would have its own apps and that if i wanted it can have its own SIM card and not rely on my phone for connection. this ATOTO so far has achieved my expectations by adding it to a vehicle that has Bluetooth but no screen. the screen is a great size for my vehicle. i tried another before this one and in my opinion it was too wide and took up alot of space. i have installed the DVR front camera and the reverse camera that was included with the purchase. the only issue that i had was that this model only now cones with the cigarette lighter plug. i additionally ordered the direct wire that connects to my fuse box which makes my ATOTO almost startup instantly. the install is great and not difficult. I am a regular guy, so anybody can do this install. i would give this product so far a 9 out of 10 mainly because of the non option of the direct wire intall not being an option +3 Here are a few ways to structure your product review, depending on where you plan to post it.Option 1: Catchy & Structured (Best for Amazon)Title: Fantastic standalone screen! Just buy the hardwire kit.Pros:True Independence: Uses its own SIM card. No phone required for data.Perfect Dimensions: Great screen size. Not awkwardly wide like other brands.Complete Package: Includes both front DVR and reverse cameras.Easy DIY: I am just a regular guy. The physical installation was very straightforward.Cons:Power Source: Only includes a cigarette lighter plug in the box.Full Review:I have owned ATOTO products before, so I am familiar with the brand, but this latest item is really awesome. I specifically wanted a car add-on that runs its own apps and holds a SIM card so it does not rely on my phone for a connection. It completely exceeded my expectations.I added it to a vehicle that had Bluetooth but no screen. The display size is perfect. I tried a different brand before this, but it was way too wide and took up too much dashboard space.I installed both the included front DVR camera and the reverse camera. The only issue is that this model only comes with a cigarette lighter plug. I ended up ordering the direct-wire kit to connect it straight to my fuse box. Now, the unit starts up almost instantly.I am just a regular guy, and I found the install great and not difficult at all. Anyone can do it. I give this a solid 9 out of 10, losing one point only because the direct-wire kit isn't included as an option. Highly recommend!Option 2: Short & Punchy (Best for Quick Reading)Title: 9/10 - Awesome standalone screen, highly recommend hardwiring! As a returning ATOTO customer, this latest product is awesome. I wanted a device that runs its own apps and takes a SIM card so it doesn't rely on my phone. It perfectly upgraded my screen-less vehicle.Unlike other awkwardly wide screens I tried, this size is perfect. The included front DVR and reverse cameras work great. The installation is straightforward enough for any regular guy to do. My only complaint is that it only comes with a cigarette lighter plug. I highly recommend buying the separate direct-wire kit for your fuse box—it makes the unit start up instantly. 9/10 because the hardwire kit should be an option!Option 3: Conversational (Best for Forums or Reddit)Title: My thoughts on the new ATOTO standalone screen (9/10)Hey everyone, just wanted to share my thoughts on the latest ATOTO unit. I've used their stuff before, but this one is particularly awesome if you want a true standalone device. It runs its own apps and takes a SIM card, so you don't need your phone connected at all.I put it in a vehicle that only had basic Bluetooth and no screen. The form factor is great—not overly wide like some of the competitors.Hooking up the front DVR and backup camera was pretty easy. I'm just a regular guy, not a pro technician, so anyone can handle this install. The only annoying part is that it only ships with a cigarette lighter adapter. Do yourself a favor and buy the direct-wire fuse box kit separately. It makes the screen boot up instantly. Overall a 9/10, deducted a point solely because the hardwire kit wasn't an option out of the box.

Great radio unit for a fraction of the price compared to other major name brands, the screen brightness and resolution are exceeding expectations, I chose this unit because it's the right size and has AV input for me to retain my Sienna RES audio/video, the S8G2B is extremely easy to use and it has so many useful built in apps, I was able to mapped all of the steering wheel control functions, my primary daily use is wireless Apple CarPlay, occasionally kids in the back seats watch DVD and was able to play the audio thru the AV input, the other plus is once I connected to portable Wi-Fi hotspot I can watch YouTube on the head unit while I am waiting for kids school dismissal.
one minor hiccups is it does not have Video output for rear headrest screens, the USB to RCA adapter I purchased does not work for North America standard (wrong video format), it will be GREAT if it works.
Overall...I highly recommend this particular model; it outperform other major name brands out there.

Very good quality and large screen size. Love it!!

Good quality camera with premium features.

Prodotto di buona costruzione, mi ha fatto perdere un po di testa ad installarlo sulla mia A6PF, ma con l'assistenza tecnica di Atoto siamo riusciti a farli funzionare perfettamente! Consiglio il prodotto in tutto!

Not only does it looks great, but the enhancements! I purchased the front camera for it as well and has it laid out damn near close to my own android cellular device. If you have Hotspot on your phone I swear your wife will have to pull you away from your vehicle! No other system fuckin with it hands down! Did i mention this is also my second atoto purchase! Glad i caught it on sale too!

Molto soddisfatto. La consiglio.

Upgrading from an Atoto S8, this a great upgrade and the features are great. If anything, the only thing I would say is i wish the backup camera had the backup guidlines

installed the ATOTO S8G1104MS 10" in my Gen 3 Prius, and honestly it feels like I gave the car a whole new interior.

The screen is huge and sharp, and the floating design lets you adjust it so it doesn't block vents or buttons. Once it's in, it looks way more modern than the stock Prius setup. Installation isn't exactly plug-and-play, but if you're comfortable with basic car audio wiring (or willing to watch a few YouTube videos), it's totally doable. Using the right dash kit and wiring harness makes a big difference.

Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto work great,

which was one of the main reasons I bought it. No cables, connects fast, and stays stable. The Android system is nice too if you want to run apps directly on the head unit. I also like that it supports backup and front cameras - made parking a lot easier.

Sound quality is better than stock, especially after playing around with the EQ and DSP settings. It takes some tweaking, but once dialed in it sounds solid even with factory speakers.

Overall, this head unit is a huge upgrade for a Gen 3 Prius. For the price, you get a ton of features and a screen that completely changes how the car feels inside. If you're looking to modernize your Prius without spending OEM-upgrade money, this is a great option.
