TL;DR: This is the best stereo that is currently on the market with legitimate product support! Don’t give into the temptation to purchase those cheap, inexpensive, unbranded Android stereos that are all over the market! They are slower than you’d expect and the sellers do not stand behind their product! My Android stereo journey:I used to have an older Android 4.4 stereo that I purchased 6 years ago, which worked decently. It was definitely an upgrade over the stock stereo on my 2002 Acura RSX Type-S. However, it was one of those that had to boot up for 35 seconds before you can use it and the performance was alright—it had a 1-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot that supported up to 32GB cards. The main music player that I use is Rocket Player and this older stereo took about 20 seconds to open the app, so it would take me a little over a minute to start playing music before driving off. Then I decided to upgrade my stereo in May 2024 and I purchased one of those inexpensive Android 13 stereos from eBay. I looked through many listings and found a stereo that has a 4-core CPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage for about $90. Aside from reorganizing the audio cables in my car and redoing some necessary audio setup, I had to create extra holes on the stock stereo tray and file out the edges on the front plate cutout to fit the stereo. My first impression was that this stereo seemed promising, but that went downhill soon after. I liked that the new stereos offered today go into a sleep mode when the Accessory signal is removed and that they are ready to use instantly when the Accessory signal is reintroduced. However, this stereo took 1-2 minutes to open Rocket Player and it took Rocket Player 40 minutes to scan my 48GB library of music! Even with higher specs than my older stereo, this was much slower and I had issues with music skipping. It also had volume issues along with a few other bugs. That eBay seller was responsive and genuinely tried to help me out, but there were issues with shipping it back as well. The return delivery failed for the address that he gave me and I had to pay the return shipping the second time, which also failed, and then I had to pay the return shipping a third time to another address. Then I received a replacement stereo with updated firmware and had to create new mounting holes because the screw holes were in different positions! All of those bugs were fixed with the new firmware, but the stereo was still slow! I asked the eBay seller about the performance issue and he offered to provide firmware to resolve the issue. I’m comfortable with doing these kinds of tasks, so I took on the task to update the firmware. However, the stereo ended up getting corrupted during the update and I didn’t hear from that seller again! No response! It was fortunate that I didn’t lose a great deal of money, but it was a lot of time wasted on that garbage stereo. Then I frantically searched for a legit Android stereo, but I was not finding it! I can’t tell you how many cheap, inexpensive garbage Android stereos are out there on the market! I literally spent 2 hours using various keywords to find something worth purchasing and I finally stumbled upon ATOTO. Featuring an 8-core CPU, 8GB RAM, and 128GB, this seemed like the best unit on the market. The price point is much higher than all the others, but I knew that a good product won’t be cheap. I did some research on ATOTO stereos and found some car forums where people said that the ATOTO stereos are really good. It was a big investment, but I closed my eyes and purchased the stereo by faith. He who trusts in the Lord shall not be ashamed, and that was my experience with the ATOTO stereo!First off, as you can see in the picture, this actually looks like a stereo! It’s larger, which provides better cooling, and there were no issues with mounting since it has all the standard mounting configurations. I noticed that the screen was slightly smaller than the front plate cutout, but it would have fit nicely if I didn’t file out the cutout to fit the cheap stereo. Fortunately, ATOTO has provided a frame that filled in most of that gap!The ATOTO stereo has RCA inputs/outputs built into the stereo! I have RCA cables between the stereo and the amp, so no more soldering RCA cables to the stereo plug! I can connect the RCA cables for audio and the reverse camera directly into the stereo! Also, the subwoofer outputs actually work! The last two stereos had a subwoofer-out connection, but it never worked! The ATOTO stereo has Left and Right subwoofer-out RCA outputs that are functional, so no more splicing the signal input from the rear speakers! And performance?! The ATOTO stereo opens Rocket Player within several seconds and the library scan takes up to about 8 minutes, and I am overjoyed with this performance! This is literally 10x faster than the other cheap stereos that flood the market! And along with the quick startup when turning ...
